Vangmayam 2019-20

Vangmayam - Book presentation Competition was held on 14 January 2020 by the Book Lover's Club .The Competitions were held both for English and Malayalam Seperately. A total of six students participated in English and the winners are 

1st - Ganga [ 1st BA English]

2nd - Anu Susan Mathai [1st PG English]

3rd -  Supriya James [ 2nd PG English] 

The winners of Malayalam competition are 

1st - Gayathri Sahajan  [ 1st BA English ]

2nd -Afiya Biju - [ 2nd BA Politics] 

3rd -Parvathy Raj  [ 3rd BA English ]

The judges of the events were Madhu V , Jessy James and Jesto Thankachan. A total of eleven students participated in the competition.

Chithra Vyagyanam 2019

'Chithra Vyagyanam' the picture interpretation competition was held on July 9th 2019 .There were 30 participants .They were given a drawing to intterpret and write a story .This was a new experience for the students .Pryag of History Department (3rd DC)hagged the first prize .Gayathri Sahajan of 2nd DC English won the second prize .And the third prize was shared between Thomas Binu Paul and Joseph Thankachan of 2nd DC English.

Reading Week 2019

Reading Week 

19 th June was celebrated as Reading Day by Book Lover's Club .Recitations by Jestin , Karishma ,Bobby and Sonasara  were done .The teachers in-charge of the club Nayomi Rajan and Silja Roy elected the leaders of the club.Malavika M Nair of 3rd  DC English was chosen as the secretary and Karishma Thomas of 2nd DC English as the joint secretary ,Soundarya Lakshmi of 1st DC English was elected as the 1st DC Representative.

MEETING- 6

Report - 6

      Sixth meeting of the Book Lovers Club was held on 17th September 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Audio Visual Room. Gayathri Sahajan of 1st DC English presented the story 'Ivan' by Vladimir Bogomolov. She presented the Malayalam version of the story. The story relates the experiences of a 12 year old orphan named Ivan Bondarev during the World War 2. It was a fascinating and heart touching story. The presentation was followed by the interactive session.

     The fifth meeting of the Book Lovers Club was held on 21st August 2019 in the Audio Visual room at 1:00 PM. The room was packed with audience. The presentation was done by Soundarya of 1st DC English. She presented the book 'Metamorphosis' by Franz Kafka. She explained about the psychological frame of the plot. She also talked about the autobiographical elements of Kafka in the plot. The presentation was followed by an interactive session. Audience raised their doubts which were answered by her. And the meeting was concluded.

MEETNG - 4

The fourth meeting of the Book Lover's club was held on 25th July 2019 Thursday on the Audio visual room at 1.00 pm.The teacher coordinator of the club ,the teachers of the English department and all the members of the club were present.The meeting began with the speech by Ganga of 1st BA English .Thereafter  ,Parvathy Raj of 3rd BA English did a wonderful presentation of the Malayalam novel " Aarachaar" by K.R Meera as a part of the weekly book presentation programme of the club.Set in Bengal, the book tells the story of Chetna , a strong and tenacious woman ,born in a family of executioners with a long lineage. The presentation was concluded by a Question and Answer session.And then, the meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks.

Meeting - 3

- The third meeting of the Book Lover's Club was held on 18th July 2018 in AV Room at 1:00pm. Soundarya of 1st BA English began the meeting with welcome speech. Then Ganga of 1st year English did story narration of English short story "The Last Leaf " by O. Henry. It tells the story of an old artist who saves the life of a young artist, dying of pnemonia, by giving her the will to live. The meeting was concluded after Karishma Thomas of 2nd BA English proposed vote of thanks.

MEETING - 2 [Reading Week]

Report 2

The second meeting of the Book Lovers' club was held on 25th June 2018 in AV room at 1:00 pm. Malavika M. Nair of 3rd year English began the meeting with welcome speech. Then Mukhendu of 3rd BA English recited the poem "Sagarageetham" by G.Shankarakuruppu and Vishnu Vijayan of 2nd BA English recited the poem "Renuka" by Murukan Kaatakada as a part of 'Reading Week'. Then Deepthy of 1st BA English proposed a vote of thanks and the meeting was concluded.

First Meeting of 2019-20

The first official meeting of the Book Lovers club was held on 20 June 2019 in AV room at 1:00 p.m . The meeting began with welcome speech by Karishma Thomas And then Feba Benny of 2nd BA English did a story narration of the Malayalam short story ' Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal ' by N. Mohanan. The story is about the love story shared buy a mother and her son and deals with the theme how love and compassion can strengthen people even in their difficult times of poverty. Finally Krishna S Nair of second year English propose the vote of thanks and the meeting was concluded.

NB: Soundarya Sivashankaran of 1st BA english and Greena of 1st BA history was elected as the First year representative of Book Lovers club.
