Meeting (5)

The fifth meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 13th August 2018 in the audio visual room at 1:00 p.m. The meeting began with welcome speech by Vismaya Rajeev.Then Gowri Gopal of III BA English did a book presentation of the English novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.The story takes place in a small Alabama town in the 1930 s and told primarily from the point of view of 6 to 9 year old Jean Louise Finch the daughter of Atticus Finch finally Balkees of I BA English proposed the vote of thanks and the meeting concluded.

Meeting (4)

The fourth meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 8th August 2018, Wednesday in the audio visual room at 1 pm. Book presentation of manushyanu Oru aamukham was done by Jeevana Sajeev off II BA Malayalam. It is the debut novel of Malayalam writers Subash Chandran and has won numerous awards including the Kendra Sahitya Academy Award (2014) and Kerala Sahitya Academy Award (2011). It is set in Thachanakkara a fictious village and has the central character named Jithendrant. Thereafter, there was a question-answer session and the presentation was concluded.The meeting was concluded with the proposal of vote of thanks by Sona Issac of I BA English

Book To Pic

The winners of the 'Book to Pic' competition that was held in association with the Reading Week celebrations:-

Second Prize: Jacob Litto (3rd English)
Third Prize: Basil Silmalu Joy (3rd English)

The posters of all the participants were displayed on the notice board of the department.

Meeting (3)

The third meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 31st July 2018, Tuesday in the audio visual room at 1:00 p.m.Anu SusN Mathai of 3rd BA English did a Book presentation of the English novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It is a romantic novel first published in 1813. The story charts the emotional development of the protagonist Elizabeth Bennett who Learns the error of making hasty judgements and comes to appreciate the difference between, the superficial and the essential. Thereafter Karishma Thomas of 1st BA English proposed vote of thanks and the meeting was concluded.

Meeting (2)

The second meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 24 July 2018, Tuesday in the audio visual room. The teacher coordinators of the Club, the teachers of the English department and all the members of the Club were present.The meeting began with a prayer song followed by a Welcome Speech by Sheby Baby. There after Niji K. A. of  II B.A History did a wonderful presentation of the Malayalam novel,  Aarachar by K.R Meera. Set in Bengal the book tells the story of Chetna a strong and tenacious woman, born in the family of executioners with a long lineage. The presentation was completed by a Question and Answer session. Then a recommended reading list was distributed among the students. Finally Anu Susan Mathai of  III BA English proposed a vote of thanks and the meeting concluded.

Karishma Thomas of I BA English was selected as the first year representative of the Book Lovers' Club

Reading Week (June 19-25)

June 19 is celebrated as Reading Day in Kerala and the week is celebrated as Reading week every year in memory of P.N Panicker, the Father of the Library Movement in Kerala.The members of the Book Lovers' Club decorated the notice board with articles, posters, drawings, quotes, riddles and short poems which signify the importance of reading.The club also arranged a poster designing competition 'Book to Pic' as a part of this.

The First Meeting 2018-2019

                        The first official meeting of the Book Lovers' Club (2018-2019) was held on 18th June 2018. The teacher coordinators of the club Smt.Silja Roy and Smt.Nayomi Rajan talked about the importance of reading. Discussions were made regarding the observance of Reading Day (June 19) and Reading Week (June 19-25). Office bearers for the new academic year were selected.The following are the new representatives.

Valedictory Function

The Prizes and Certificates, for the winners of Vangmayam 2018, were distributed. The students who have presented books during the academic year 2017-18 and the office-bearers of the Club were given Books and Certificates as a token of appreciation.

The Club organized the annual Book Appreciation Competition Vangmaya-2018 on 14-2-2018 in the Audio-Visual room at 11:00 a.m.
