Vangmayam 2022

 The annual Book Presentation competition "വാങ്മയം" organised by the Book Lovers' Club for the year 2022 was conducted on 9 March 2022. The results were announced on the same day.


The winners of "വാങ്മയം 2022":

III prize - Ganga V S ( III BA English)


The prize distribution for Vangmayam 2022 was held on 23 March, Wednesday, in the Audio-Visual Room at 1.00 pm. Smt Reeja Jose,..., gave away the prizes.


A formal prize distribution for the competition was not held last year because of Covid-19. Therefore, the prizes for Vangamayam 2021 were also distributed on the same day.

Second prize: shared by 

Anu Susan Mathai, II MA English (Lajja by Taslima Nasrin) and Gayatri Sahajan, II BA English (Pather Panchali by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay)


Third Prize: Jeeva Paul, I BSc Chemistry (Kaalam by MT Vasudevan Nair)




The prizes for those students who had done book presentations, writer presentations, recitations, etc., during the two academic years 2020-21 and 2021-22, were also distributed.

Vaksauhrudam 8

The eighth meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 26 February 2022 on Google Meet. 12 participants including students and teachers joined the Meet. Gayathri Sahajan of III DC English hosted the meeting. Rebecca Mary George of II DC English presented the American writer, Joel C Rosenberg. She also talked about her experience on reading the book "Without Warning" written by him. It was followed by a presentation on Rana Ayyub's Gujarat Files , by Muhammed Izhath K S, I DC History. The book is the account of an eight-month long undercover investigation by journalist Rana Ayyub Pandya. The presentation was followed by a discussion about the book and its author.

Vaksauhrudam 7

 The seventh meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 19 February 2022 on Google Meet. 23 participants including students and teachers joined the Meet. Ganga V S of III DC English hosted the meeting. Teena John of I DC History presented the book titled "How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-founded a Million Dollar Company" written by a first generation entrepreneur, Varun Agarwal. The book is an autobiographical story of Varun, who is a 20 years old game changer. An engineer by profession, Varun wants to shun the 9-5 race and dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. The book is about following one's dream, inspite of several challenges. The presentation was followed by a discussion about the book and its author.

Vaksauhrudam 6

The sixth meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 19 December 2021 on Google Meet. 17 participants including students and teachers joined the Meet. Ganga V S of III DC English hosted the meeting. Bhagyalakshmi P Ranjan of I DC English presented the book titled "Malamuzhakki" written by the famous wildlife photographer N A Naseer. The book is a collection of essays describing the writer's experiences during his journeys to the jungles. The presentation was followed by a discussion about the book and its author.

Vaksauhrudam 5

The fifth meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 4 December 2021 on GoogleMeet. 22 participants including students and teachers joined the Meet. Krishnapriya Santhosh of II BA Politics hosted the programme. Elsa George of III BA English presented the book The Butterfly Effect by Rajat Chaudhari. The novel has multiple narratives presented in nine different, yet interconnected chapters. Set in a dystopian world, and having characters of diverse nationalities, the novel shows how interference with nature, even when done with good intentions, may have disastrous consequences which can affect the entire world. The presentation was followed by a discussion about various themes of the novel.

Book Lovers' Club Meeting

The Book Lovers' Club had an offline meeting on 29 November 2021 in order to discuss the activities for the coming weeks. The meeting was held in Room No 13. It was the club's first offline meeting in two years. Students from various departments participated.

 Angeleena Gibi of I DC English was selected as the first year representative. Krishnapriya Santhosh and Anu M A of II DC Politics were given the responsibility of the Reader's Desk.

Vaksauhrudam 4

 

The fourth meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 17th September 2021 on Google Meet. It commenced with Welcome Speech delivered by Krishnapriya Santhosh of II BA Politics. As part of Valmeekam, Hanna Mary Paul of II BA History talked about the well-known Malayalam author VKN. 

A book presentation on Jack London's The Call of the Wild was done by Anju A Prabhu of II MA English, which was followed by a discussion. A fun quiz was also conducted, in which the participants were asked to unscramble the jumbled letters to identify names of famous fictional characters. The meeting concluded with Vote of thanks delivered by Elsa George of III BA English.
