Vaksauhrudam- III

 The third meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 20th November, 2020 on Google Meet. There were 30 participants including teachers and students. The meeting began with a warm welcome by Afiya Biju of III DC Politics.

Rebecca Mary George of I DC English did a brief talk on the famous Anglo-Irish writer and satirist, Jonathan Swift as part of Valmeekam(weekly presentations on writers).  

Annsmariya Johny of I DC Politics did a presentation on the novel "Oru Sankeerthanam Pole" written by Perumbadavam Sreedharan, which narrates the life story of the Russian writer Dostoyevsky, the trials and tribulations he faced while writing his famous novel "The Gambler" and how he overcame them all.

The meeting concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Ambili Ravindran of III DC Maths.

Vaksauhrudam- II

The second meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on 13th November, 2020 on Google Meet. There were 42 participants including students and teachers from various departments. Soundarya Lakshmi R S of II DC English hosted the meeting. It began with a Welcome Speech delivered by Adithya Raju of II DC Maths. Devayani S of I DC English did a brief talk on Arundhati Roy as part of Valmeekam(weekly presentations on writers).  A book presentation on the novel Asuravith by M T Vasudevan Nair was done by Devika Unni of III DC Politics. She briefly presented the plot of the story and also gave her own take on the novel, its characters and the various themes presented in it. The meeting concluded with Vote of Thanks by Ganga V S of II DC English.

Vaksauhrudam- I

 The activities of the Book Lovers' Club for the year 2020- 21 were initiated on 6th November, 2020 on Google Meet. There were 56 participants, including students and teachers from various departments.

Sarah Jolly of III DC English delivered the Welcome Speech. Ambili Raveendran of III DC Maths did a presentation in memory of the Malayalam poet, Akkitham, as part of the new activity called Valmeekam(weekly presentations on writers). Ganga V S of II DC English presented the novel Kadambari by Banabhatta.
Devayani S and Krishna Priya Santhosh were selected as first year representatives from English and Politics respectively. The meeting concluded with Vote of Thanks by Gayathri Sahajan of II DC English.

Book Lovers' Club 2020-21, First Meeting

On 31 October 2020, a meeting of the Book Lovers' Club was held on Google Meet to discuss the activities of the Club for the year 2020-21. The teacher coordinators Smt. Nayomi Rajan and Smt. Silja Roy and 13 student members participated in the meeting. The following students were selected as office bearers of the club.

Joint Secretary- Gayathri Sahajan, 2nd DC English

3rd Year representative- Afiya Biju, 3rd DC Politics

The upcoming meetings of the club were decided to be held at 2.30- 3.30 p.m. on Fridays.

In addition to book presentations, various ideas were suggested by the members including storytelling, character presentation, introducing an author and his/her works, retelling/subversions from a different perspective, book adaptations, monoacts, etc. Online quizzes, debates, workshops and webinars were also suggested.

Vangmayam 2019-20

Vangmayam - Book presentation Competition was held on 14 January 2020 by the Book Lover's Club .The Competitions were held both for English and Malayalam Seperately. A total of six students participated in English and the winners are 

1st - Ganga [ 1st BA English]

2nd - Anu Susan Mathai [1st PG English]

3rd -  Supriya James [ 2nd PG English] 

The winners of Malayalam competition are 

1st - Gayathri Sahajan  [ 1st BA English ]

2nd -Afiya Biju - [ 2nd BA Politics] 

3rd -Parvathy Raj  [ 3rd BA English ]

The judges of the events were Madhu V , Jessy James and Jesto Thankachan. A total of eleven students participated in the competition.

Chithra Vyagyanam 2019

'Chithra Vyagyanam' the picture interpretation competition was held on July 9th 2019 .There were 30 participants .They were given a drawing to intterpret and write a story .This was a new experience for the students .Pryag of History Department (3rd DC)hagged the first prize .Gayathri Sahajan of 2nd DC English won the second prize .And the third prize was shared between Thomas Binu Paul and Joseph Thankachan of 2nd DC English.

Reading Week 2019

Reading Week 

19 th June was celebrated as Reading Day by Book Lover's Club .Recitations by Jestin , Karishma ,Bobby and Sonasara  were done .The teachers in-charge of the club Nayomi Rajan and Silja Roy elected the leaders of the club.Malavika M Nair of 3rd  DC English was chosen as the secretary and Karishma Thomas of 2nd DC English as the joint secretary ,Soundarya Lakshmi of 1st DC English was elected as the 1st DC Representative.
